After years of working in the field of Addiction and Mental Health, Andrea began to take inventory of the systemic tribulations plaguing our local community and the “Helping” field as a whole. She realized that while Savannah is blessed to have missions providing a “Hand-Out” in order to better meet the physical needs of homeless and disadvantaged individuals; our city lacks the true and applicable “Hand-Up” needed in order to stop the cycle and give these individuals a firm foundation for emotional growth and independence.
About Housing First Savannah
We are starting this collaborative to seek funding for developing a pilot, proof of concept for a particular type of housing! Our three founding partners are uniquely qualified to provide housing to the homeless!
We'll be sharing the details later to all in the community interested in becoming a part of the solution!

Our Mission
Housing First Savannah’s venture seeks to curtail homelessness in Savannah. Our venture will bridge the gap between living on the street or one night shelters to being able to be eligible for public housing and private housing opportunities.
We have three critical elements to our venture:
1) Short term housing – will develop and build short-term dwelling units,
2) Housing Management – the housing units will be located on sites with management in place as well as counseling services, and
3) Counseling, Job Training, and Support – by partnering with a number of support providers, including HUGS & the Faith Community, to provide ongoing counseling, job training and support to residents.
